Introducing Move Hope Forward: Truth You Can Trust, Hope You Can Practice

When the news cycle is overwhelming and the headlines are terrifying, it’s easy to feel powerless. At Covered Colorado, we believe hope is not just a feeling, it’s an action. Hope is something we do and work toward. It looks like telling the truth, creating safety, practicing dignity, and taking small steps that move people toward healing.

Move Hope Forward is our new weekly blog designed to offer simple, trustworthy truths and practical actions that anyone can take to support survivors of sex trafficking. Through this blog, our aim is to strengthen sex trafficking survivor support right here in Colorado and beyond by building a community of compassionate, educated, community-centered readers that will walk alongside us to bring hope forward.

Why “Move Hope Forward”?

Because when everything feels heavy, standing still is not the answer.

Trafficking is real. The need for support for survivors of trafficking is real.  And while we cannot control the headlines, we can choose how we respond.

Hope moves when we replace misinformation with trustworthy information about trafficking.
Hope moves when communities invest in trauma-informed survivor support.
Hope moves when ordinary people take one small, consistent step.

Forward does not have to be dramatic. It just has to be intentional.

We strengthen sex trafficking survivor support in Colorado by supporting safe housing, counseling, workforce readiness, education, and long-term stability. And we invite you to be part of that steady, forward movement.

Our Commitment: Truth, Dignity, and Practical Steps

In every post, you can expect:

Clear, compassionate truth.

We’ll address myths and share grounded realities about trafficking and trauma-informed care for survivors, always while protecting the confidentiality of our clients.

Practical hope.

Each post ends with one simple action you can take that week to help move hope forward for survivors.

Respect for survivors.

We focus on what helps: safe housing, stability, community, education, and survivor‑led healing.

Simple Ways to Move Hope Forward Starting Today

Practice Compassion

Trafficking thrives in isolation; healing thrives in community.

  • Believe survivors when they share their stories

  • Speak up against victim-blaming

  • Model empathy in your circles. Culture shifts one conversation at a time.

A Note from Johanna, Founder and Executive Director of Strategy and Sustainability

Ten years ago, I came face to face with something I had only heard about from a distance. Trafficking was no longer an article or a statistic. It was a woman sitting across the table from me.

When you sit across from someone and truly listen, something shifts.

I could not look away after that.

The women I have met since then are not headlines. They are mothers. Daughters. Women who had dreams long before exploitation interrupted their lives. I have watched them do the courageous work of rebuilding—walking into counseling, learning to advocate for themselves, showing up again and again.

Move Hope Forward exists because their futures matter.

If the world feels heavy right now, you are not alone. But you are not powerless either.

Hope moves when we practice it.
And together, we can move it forward.

Hope In Action

If this work matters to you, there are many ways to move hope forward. One of the most tangible is by supporting the programs that provide safe housing, counseling, and long-term stability for survivors. Your generosity helps ensure that when someone is ready to take their next step toward healing, the support they need is already in place.
