Are you a survivor needing help?

Dear Survivor,

I believe you.

When I was first learning about what trafficking actually was, I realized that it had happened to me. I had been a minor and under the care of people who were not protecting me, but were using me. They told me that no one else would understand or believe. They would tell me that I was too far gone for help and so it was hard for me to ask for help after years of it continuing to be that way.

I am here to tell you that what they were saying isn’t true and that there are people who do understand and want to help. There is hope in all the darkness you’ve faced. I am here to tell you there are people willing to fight to help you get back up on your feet. There are people who believe you and care about seeing you heal and thrive.

You’re not alone.

Covered works with survivors every day and each one of our stories can be different. Societal stigmas, traffickers, buyers, as well as lack of help or information about trafficking can leave victims feeling isolated. I learned that people may not always understand what exactly I went through, but most people understand darkness. Reaching out for help was one of the best decisions I made for myself.

You can do this.
