COVERED HOUSE

OPENed JANuary 2023

Access to safe, affordable housing can be especially challenging for victims of trafficking. Many victims face unique barriers to obtaining housing as a direct result of their victimization. Moreover, few emergency shelters or transitional housing programs are uniquely prepared to serve victims of trafficking. Leaving survivors to face the unimaginable choice of either becoming homeless or returning to their abuser. *Without a safe place to go, an estimated 80% will be revictimized. *source: Office of Victims of Crime & Safe House Project

Trafficking victims need a place that provides security and comfort for both physical and emotional healing. In January, 2023, Covered opened our first stabilization safe house, aptly named “Covered House” for sex trafficking survivors over the age of 18 who are enrolled in the Covered Program.  Our program is trauma informed, survivor informed, using evidence-based practices to empower survivors toward healing and self-sufficiency. At this home we provide advocacy and a healthy community through case management, mentoring, life skills, and coaching to navigate their finances, employment, and relational skills. We hope that you follow our story as we work to transform lives at this house.
