Development Assistant

  • Position Type: Part-Time, In person, 20 hours a week, Tuesday through Thursday, Non-Exempt

Position Overview

The Development Assistant will be working closely with the Development Director in supporting the marketing efforts of Covered. Maintaining the donor database, researching potential donors or corporate sponsors, and grant opportunities. Assisting the Development Director with administrative tasks, donor communication and fundraising events.

Key Responsibilities

Donor Development

●        Keep donor database current with information, notes, and donor acknowledgement

●        Identify and help build new donor relationships with individuals, churches, corporations, etc

●        Help maintain relationships with current donors

●        Create and send donor packets and gifts

●        Help maintain spreadsheets on donors, fundraising, expenses, and events

●        Support scheduling and documentation for donor meetings

 Fundraising

●        Supporting the development team in day-to-day administrative tasks

●        Helping with marketing materials and donor communication

●        Help Covered to reach fundraising goals set each year

●        Research grant opportunities and help complete proposals

●        Attend fundraising event team meetings and helping plan and manage upcoming events

●        Inventory management

 Requirements

●        1+ years of experience (volunteer or paid) in non-profit work or an assistant role preferred but not required

●        In agreement with Covered’s Values, Mission, and Vision

●        Humble, credible, trustworthy, detail-oriented, teachable and a self-starter

●        Effective and creative communicator with strong social and verbal skills

 ●        Good computer skills such as Microsoft & Google platforms (Word, Excel, Google Drive, database, etc.) is preferrable

●        Organized and able to oversee multiple projects and events

Time Requirements

This position will be completed in 20 hours per week. This position will occasionally include evening and weekend hours due to events, meetings, or presentations.  This position will be an in-office job.

 Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment as well as remote and uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, desktop computers and telephones.  Looking for a humble, credible, trustworthy, teachable self-starter to work with a team of both staff and volunteers.
