Independent Living

Once survivors become self-sufficient, we continue to provide guidance as needed and collaborate with community partners. We hope the survivors will take the skills they have learned in our program and apply them to their future.

  • Permanent Housing: Survivors will work with case managers and find housing close to their jobs and/or schools.  Survivors will learn how to take public transportation to get around their new neighborhoods.

  • 1st Month’s Rent: Covered will help each survivor by paying for their deposit and 1st month’s rent.  After this, survivors are on their own to make payments.

  • Furniture Items for Home: Survivors will search and purchase furniture and items for their homes.  Case managers will help survivors to go pick up these items.

  • Testify in Court: Some survivors choose to testify in court against their traffickers and abusers.  Case managers will help prepare survivors to take the stand.

  • Transitional Case Management: Case managers will continue to be in contact and support each survivor during this phase, but survivors will start to need them less and less.

  • Continued Life Skills: Survivors will continue to work on developing life skills (as needed).

  • Connect with Counseling Partners: Covered will help survivors connect with counselors outside of our program to support their continued healing.
